One Good Eye, One Bad One...
The Playing With Fire show has been a continuation of my journey exploring body image
. As a teen I was scarred both physically and emotionally as the result of a car accident. I worked with hot wax, knives stitching and embroidery to create a metaphor of the destruction and reconstruction of the human form. I also used photography and video as vehicles to empower myself to confront the “truth.”
about how I see myself. How we see ourselves is seldom how people on the outside perceive us. Human beings create “scar tissue”
while healing from mistakes and see them as though they are in the forefront of other people’s minds. It is ironic how scar tissue and the messy mistakes we make in life are many times what keeps us together and gives us our strength.
