Last year School of the Holy Childhood came to the Communication/Journalism Department at St. John Fisher for help redesigning collateral for their annual golf tournament fundraiser. The students also worked on rebranding ideas, as their current identity is outdated. The students were in charge of getting in touch with Katie Balconi, Development Coordinator at Rochester School of the Holy Childhood, with any questions they had that were not covered while she presented her criteria during our class meeting. Ms. Balconi came to our final presentations in order to choose the student work she felt met the needs for the organization with the most finesse and professionalism. This year our Fisher IMC Firm Client for Design & Publishing will be Pittsford Youth Services. The slogan will be Reaching Out. Helping Youth. Raising Hope. My former student, Matthew Fowler, is working with them on updating their new media presence and we will be providing collateral for the program and their annual fundraiser the Duck Drop on the Erie Canal. It feels satisfying to have Matt come back as a client presenting. I am proud we have a tradition of working with the Rochester Community in the Design & Publishing course at St. John Fisher College. We’ve come full circle!
